Cancer patients' perception of the quality of nursing care

Objective: To determine cancer patients' perceptions of the quality of nursing care. Method: A systematic review with a mixed approach was conducted, following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines; quantitative studies that evaluated quality using validated scales and qualitative studies based on interviews were included. The search was conducted in electronic databases between 2017 and 2023. Results: The results showed an overall favorable perception, highlighting the importance of humane treatment, emotional and spiritual support, professional competence, and effective communication. However, limitations associated with work overload and a shortage of specialized personnel were identified. Conclusion: It was concluded that positive perception was associated with organized health systems and the presence of nurses specialized in oncology.
