Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze circular strategies for reducing pollution from municipal solid waste through a systematic review. It was conducted using a quantitative, literature-based approach. The review was carried out in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. The tools used included data sheets and analysis matrices. The selected articles were sourced from the Scopus, Scielo, and Web of Science (WoS) databases. The results indicated that the most commonly used strategies have been recycling, composting, energy recovery, and controlled disposal. Furthermore, the studies highlighted the effects on air and soil, with less emphasis on water. It was concluded that circular strategies reduce pollution when they incorporate source separation, citizen participation, funding, and technical capacity, among other factors.
